Each year, WOYC is celebrated by Child Care Resource Network throughout Western New York. This year, over 15 free events and activities for children are open to the public during the week of April 24. April 26  |  Work Together Wednesday: Work together, build together, learn together

    We’re encouraging child care programs, families, after-school programs, and community groups to work together to do something great for their community. Together we can make a difference, no matter how small. We hope you’ll take photos, record video, and share what you’re doing with us on social media. Some examples of ways your group can work together include:

    • Bring baked goods, cards, art, etc. to a local fire hall, police station, post office, sanitation workers, or community service workers to thank them for what they do every day;
    • Sing or visit with a local senior center;
    • Work together to make lunch for your child care program or family;
    • Clean up a playground, backyard, or local park in your neighborhood; or
    • Work together as a group to make a collective art project.

    Take photos and videos of your little ones working together and share it on social media with the hashtag #worktogetherWNY and you could win a gift card to an art supply store!

    April 27  |  Artsy Thursday: Think, problem solve, create

    Art is not only a way for children to express themselves, but also to develop creativity, social skills, and fine motor skills. This Artsy Thursday, we’re encouraging parents and child care programs to engage their little ones in a variety of open-ended art projects that let them create with their hands using a wide range of materials. The messier, the better! Try some of these engaging art activities provided by NAEYC:
