Fall in WNY is the perfect time to take the family apple picking!  Some apple picking places in WNY open as early as the last week in August.  Others wait until September, but peak time is mid-September through the end of October.   We are fortunate to be surrounded by a number of great apple picking place in WNY that are within short driving distance for most of our readers.  We’ve compiled a list of apple picking places in WNY that are family friendly!  Many of these places offer additional fall themed activities to enjoy aside from apple picking so you can make a day of your apple picking adventure.

  1. Blackman Homestead Farms, Lockport, NY
    Blackman Homestead Farms is a great place to visit.  You can spend a few hours visiting because they also have barnyard animals, a straw climbing area for the kids, fresh pressed cider and a little store.
  2. Becker Farms, Gasport, NY
    Becker Farms is a community favorite!  During the season they offer activities each weekend and again, you can make a day out of visiting them.
  3. Murphy Orchards in Burt, NY
  4. Watts Farm in Albion, NY
    Watts Farm has special apple brunches throughout the season!  Check their website for dates and registration details.
  5. Baker Farms & U-Pick in Ransomville, NY
  6. LynOaken Farms in Lyndonville, NY
    While we’ve never personally visited, their site says that visitors can enjoy wagon rides and fresh cider donuts on the weekend during picking season.

Apple Picking Places in or Around Rochester, NY

Whittier Fruit Farm, Rochester, NY – They have 32 different varieties of apples and they offer tractor and wagon rides to their Pumpkin Patch on Saturdays and Sundays in October. You can also pick pumpkins from their market.
