Garrison Park

The last 2 weeks we have been over to Garrison Park in Williamsville. This park has come a long way since we first moved to Buffalo!

A couple of years ago they replaced the playground equipment and now most everything is brand new. (The swing set is older) There is a large sandbox with a bunch of big trucks and other sand toys for the kids to play with. Also, in late June the wading pool opens and it is FREE!

One of the things I love about Garrison Park is the big gazebo. Perfect if you want to pack your lunch or if you need shelter from a sudden rain shower passing through! (And I speak from experience on both counts!)

A couple of need-to-know things about the park. First, there are no bathrooms. Last summer there was a porter potty placed in the park but just for the summer, I believe. Second, be careful of where you park or you may find yourself with a parking ticket. Do not park too close to the fire hydrant and be sure you are at least 15 feet from the crosswalk. Last summer I was ticketed for parking too close to the crosswalk and a friend of mine got a ticket for parking too close to the fire hydrant.

I apologize that I don't have a picture of the park to go with this post. I meant to bring my camera both weeks to snap a shot but I forgot both times! Next time we go I will try to remember the camera!

  1. absolutely LOVE the wading pool! Fenced area, lifeguard on duty, large without needing to beright on top of your walking child. You may bring pool toys and small/medium floatie toys. Open 10-7.

  3. The playground at Maple East (next to Millard Suburban Hospital) is also good ... items for younger kids and includes a stairway for access to the slides as well as the usual ladders and climbing devices so that young or small children and/or older or larger caregivers can accompany a young child. Swings (including 2 really nice seat swings),various monkey bars, climbing walls, and standing teter-totters are also on-site.

The old wood climber was taken down over the winter ... thank goodness!

  4. We had a great time today at the Wading Pool at Garrison!

Yes, we also like Maple East! I didn't know they had completely removed the old wooden set.
