Are you up for a drive? Strong National Museum of Play in Rochester, NY is well worth the trip! Exhibits include Sesame Street, Berenstain Bears, Wegmans Kids Market, Field of Play, Reading Adventureland, Time Lab, Strong Express Train and many more. Strong Museum of Play is not just a place to play but also a place to learn. Many of the exhibits (Time Lab, One History Place and Make it & Take it) are hands-on and your kids may learn something they never knew before.
Big B was in heaven at this place! His favorite exhibit by far was the kid size Wegmans. We went there 3 times! There is no doubt your kids will have a fun time so when you go plan to stay the entire day. There are places to eat inside the Museum if you don't want to worry about packing a lunch. Go here for hours and admission fees.
A few things I'd like to add from a personal perspective. First, this place is huge! Even though we went on a Saturday we never felt like it was crowded in the least bit. Second, I was very impressed with how clean everything was kept. It's a place for kids to play you would think there would be a mess here and there. Nope. Third, they have what are called "Guest Rest" rooms. A small room with a rocking chair, a few toys and books and curtains to pull for privacy. At the time of our visit I was nursing a 3 month old so these rooms were a lifesaver for me. Finally, there are lots and lots of bathrooms so you don't have to go far to find one!
This is a "must-do" activity if you live in the Buffalo area!

LOVE the Strong Museum! I have been a couple times ... make sure you don't go during school vacations if you have shy or young children. We went during the February break (2010)with our 2-year-old son. Complete disaster! It was packed! It was difficult getting into many exhibits, not enough manipulatives when we did get in, and not nearly enough supervision for the day camp kids. Our little guy cried for an hour and a half before we gave up and left. He had a much better time in June 2009 when we went on a Saturday. We will definitely go back ... after consulting the calendar carefully.
