Mid-September through the end of October is the season for apples in western New York. We have already taken the kids apple picking 4 times this season and we're going again this weekend. Our very favorite place to pick apples is Blackman Homestead Farm in Lockport, NY. Check out their apple picking schedule here. Big B loves to play on the bales of hay, check out the goats and turkeys, pick apples and eat apples. The apples this year were 47 cents per pound - a great price to pay for the fun your kids will have!
Now, there are other places to pick apples in this area. I would be remiss not to mention Becker Farms. During apple season, there are activites each weekend at Becker Farms. The kids will love the Derby Pig Races, Pony Rides, Hay Rides, Bounce house, farm animals and fish pond.
At this stage in our lives we prefer the simpler, less expensive options for most everything we do with our kids. This is why we love Blackman Farms.
As with all my other posts, this is not an exhaustive list of places to pick apples in the Buffalo area. If you've found a great place to pick apples, let me know by leaving a comment below!
